First edition, 8vo, pp. viii, 152; printed in Latin and Manchu script; contemporary quarter roan over marbled boards, top inch of spine chipped away, 3 old church rubberstamps on title page, and old bookplate on front pastedown; all else very good and sound. Manchu grammar and reader, with a 12-page Manchu vocabulary at the back. Kaulen (1827-1907) was a German Catholic Biblical scholar. This is, apparently, his first book. OCLC locates 19 copies worldwide, only Columbia, NY Public, Yale, Northwestern, Chicago, UW, and Penn in the U.S.
