Add to basketx, (2), 200 pages; Clean and secure in original brown cloth binding in very gooddustjacket with minor wear at head of spine and two old clear tape internal repairs. This volume assembles the most important of the early sketches, anecdotes, biographies, criticisms, and documents concerned with Shakespeare and his times. All of these are, of course, tucked away in partial quotations in various modern books about Shakespeare, but it is of real value to bring the sources simply and conveniently into one volume. The texts are almost entirely in modern dress, but are quite faithful to the spirit and meaning of the authors quoted. Controversy is avoided in favor of building up in a continuous narrative the spirit of Tudor times and the background of Shakespeare's work.
