A complete first edition memoir of this important evangelical figure, Edward Bickersteth. Edward Bickersteth was an English evangelical clergyman. The first in a line of Bickersteths who worked as priests and bishops, he composed hymn collections and aided in forming the Foreign Aid Society and his work for the Evangelical Alliance. His nephew became Bishop of Ripon and his son Bishop of Exeter.Written by the Reverend Thomas Rawson Birks, the subject's son-in-law and colleague.Complete in two volumes; this work is not often found complete.Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Bickersteth.The first edition of this work. In a contemporary full cloth binding. Externally a trifle worn, with loss as a result of bumping to the head and tail of volume II in particular. Internally, firmly bound.
