Map is in very good condition with some irregular creasing, foxing, minor tears and old tape repairs. Very good book. First edition. Professionally repaired with original spine cloth laid down. Maroon cloth covered boards with gilt-stamped illustration on front panel, gilt lettering and graphics on spine. Double-blind fillet borders on front and back panels. Board panels and spine are scuffed and stained, sunned at edges. Edges scuffed, fore-edge corners are stabilized. External page edges age-darkened and with some foxing. Dark green endpapers with previous owner's bookplates. Front internal hinge is partially cracked, also slightly on back hinge, both holding and with sound text block. 35 illustrations are in-text and the fold-out frontispiece. Small bookbinder's label on back paste-down. Faint age-toning to text pages. Foxing is minimal, mostly on pages toward the front and back.
