First edition, 2 volumes, 8vo, xxiii, [1], 358; viii, 363, [1]; 180 illustrations largely from photographs, some in color, 4 folding maps printed in color, plus another full-page map in black & white, and 3 folding tables; original blue cloth stamped in gilt on upper covers and spines; front free flyleaf of volume I excised, spines faded, otherwise a very good, sound, and clean set, but for a slight trace of worming at the very bottom of the rear pastedown in volume II. "The author visited Kathmandu in 1908 and 1924, and describes the origins of Nepal. This is the leading reference work on Nepal, including a set of readable appendices" (Yakushi). Yakushi L58.
