First edition. Publisher's pictorial off-white wrappers, with a Giants player making a catch while number 39 approaches the base, printed in red and blue. Near fine, with light toning to wrappers, a touch of soiling to rear wrapper, and a light vertical crease down center of program. Overall, a handsome copy, with an unused scorecard. This program is for a game played between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants. Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Johnny Mize are listed on the scorecard. Jackie Robinson is credited with breaking the league's color line when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. In his Hall of Fame career, he won Rookie of the Year (1947), NL MVP (1949), and was selected for six All-Star games. An all-time great baseball player and towering figure in the civil rights movement, he was included in Time magazine's 1999 list of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
