A very attractive four-volume set of books written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak, in a card slipcase titled Nutshell Library. The four are: Alligators All Around, An Alphabet; Chicken Soup with Rice, A Book of Months; One Was Johnny, A Counting Book; and Pierre, A Cautionary Tale in Five Chapters and a Prologue. Each volume: hardcover, bound in decorated salmon-pink cloth, in dust jacket; 32 - 48 pages; color illustrations throughout; 6.8 x 9.4 cm. All are Fine in a Fine dj with a hint of soiling. Illustrated paper-bound card slipcase; 7 x 10.2 x 4 cm. Very Good+ with light rubbing to the extremities. First edition, first or second printing. Ref: Hanrahan, Works of Maurice Sendak, A51.
