Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound, internally clean hardcover copy, with unbruised tips, neat and tidy paste-downs; ex-library, withdrawn from the New Church Theological School, with ink-stamps and accessions to interior, but greatly unobtrusive, and none exterior. Gray paper over boards, black cloth-backed, and with sharp writing in black to covers, gilt to spine. Written by one of the leading members of the Palestine Exploration Fun, and illustrated by plans and drawings by Francis G. Newton and also by photographs in black-and-white of pottery and other objects found in the excavations. Published in London by the Offices of the Fund, 1913, Very Good condition overall, in quarto format, grainy gray paper over boards, black cloth-backed. Some moderate wear and tear to boards, tips, extremities. Eleven illustrations overall. 100 pp. + plates + (2) + 102-04 pp., including a full index, and then considerable lists of prior, related publications. The black-and-white photographs are quite remarkable, as is the full-color plate of a painted Philistine vase from the Central City area and another one, also fine, at frontis. I: The Megalithic Monuments of Rabbath Ammon at Amman. II: The Excavations at Ain Shems, 1911. III: The Khazneh at Petra. Illustrated by plans and drawings F. G. Newton. Tall quarto format, 110 pp. 17 plates, 40 text-illustrations, index. Very light rubbings to extremities, else a remarkably attractive copy of a scarce book at all, much less in this condition.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
