A well preserved copy of this seminal look at slavery, an important work as this book changed the mindset as to how we look at slavery; originally considered a paternalistic benign institution, Stampp exposed it for what it was; a cruel reality for the Negro slave. This copy is in near fine condition with only light rubbing to the edges, mild age-toning to the pages, and a ghost of a small sticker to the front paste down and free paper; housed in a clean and crisp very good original dust jacket that shows minor rubbing and chipping to the spine ends, edges, and corners, mild sun fading to the spine and flap edges, and a couple of short closed tears to the top of the back panel and corner. Overall, a highly presentable and collectible copy of an important work. Not remaindered, not price-clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship securely wrapped in a sturdy box.
