Arthur Kopcke, Reading Work Piece: WATCH ALL KIND OF NUMBERS!, Copenhagen, 1962. 180 x 215mm. Black printed text on white card (affixed to white paper with three small strips of tape) with one stuck-on paper element (a receipt?), faded red rubber-stamp reading ORIGINAL and writing in red ballpoint pen. One work in the Fluxus artist s Reading Work Piece series, which he started while he was running the avant-garde gallery and Danish hub of Fluxus, Galerie Kopcke. Condition: interestingly, the artist decided to mount this particular work on a larger piece of paper using tape in three places as seen in photo, the cut-out tape has separated from the glue on the bottom two corners, but the pieces are still present. Top piece of tape is attached to the card but not the paper underneath and could easily be removed from the card, which could be remounted on a fresh piece of paper without tape or with the original tape a curatorial decision for the owner. By mounting on the paper, it is larger than other works we have seen from this period. Overall: very good.
