Two works bound as one. Half leather binding with marbled boards. Spine with four raised bands and title label. Leather heavily rubbed, slight loss to foot of spine. Front board has been reattached and rear board reinforced with a linen strip to endpaper joints. Marbled endpapers, red speckled page edges. Good solid binding. Patch of browning to the last 10 pages of 'Pyrenees', text is otherwise very clean throughout. One letter scratched off from the title page of 'Recollections'. Two previous owner bookplates to front pastedown endpaper. 'Recollections of the Peninsular' is the scarce first printing. 'Pyrenees and the South of France' is the very scarce first English language edition. Overall condition is Good Plus. Size: 5.75 x 8.5 inches (14 x 22 cm). Hardback. Printed pages: 8vo.
