Secure in their position, the Federals began to transfer men to the campaigns east of the Mississippi. About the Authors

Sean McLachlan worked for ten years as an archaeologist before becoming a full-time writer. He has published several books on history and travel and divides his time between Missouri, England, and Spain. Johnny Shumate works as a freelance illustrator living in Nashville, Tennessee. He began his career in 1987 after graduating from Austin Peay State University. Most of his work is rendered in Adobe Photoshop using a Cintiq monitor. His greatest influences are Angus McBride, Don Troiani, and Édouard Detaille.

Donato Spedaliere was born in Switzerland and moved to Italy. He served as a paratrooper in the
Italian Army and studied at Belle Arti in Florence. As a 2D artist, he is a professional illustrator for
publishers and museums; as a 3D artist he has worked on complex projects with archaeologists,
