First American edition. Octavo. 120pp., [8]pp. Green cloth stamped in black. Owner decorative bookplate contemporary on front pastedown,light foxing on endpapers, spine is dulled, slight uneven fading on rear cover, else a very good copy. Irish poet and novelist Patrick MacGill was born in Donegal "of Irish peasants", during the first World War he enlisted in the London Irish Rifles, as a stretcher-bearer, and was wounded at Loos. His writings, both fiction and poetry, reference his experiences in war and his working class upbringing. Published in the same year as the English edition which was published in London, by Herbert Jenkins Limited.
