Armorial bookplate of Charles Joseph Harford, F.A.S. on front pastedown. A few manuscript notes in light pencil on the free endpapers and occasional marginalia in pencil, presumably in the hand of Charles Harford (1764-1830), a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a Justice of the Peace. A later philological work by John Cleland, best known for his erotic novel: *Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure* (popularly known as *Fanny Hill*), which got him arrested in November 1749. *Alston* V, 363-364.
