Unpaginated pages; Publisher's black cloth, spine and front cover lettered in pale blue, with a photographic illustration on the front cover. Black dust jacket repeats the design of the binding; top front corner of the upper flap clipped -- two small tears along the top edge of the front panel have created a two-inch-long "flap, " without loss. Stated first edition, with number string to match on verso of the title page. A photo-essay showing two photogenic young boys living and playing on the upper West Side of Manhattan. Vincent is black and Danny is white. The text by Susan Hall is presented as a dialogue between the two boys. Bob Adelman [1930-2016] volunteered as a photographer for the Congress of Racial Equality in the early 1960s and, while there are other aspects and subjects in his work, he is best known for his photographs of the Civil Rights movement. The Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division acquired the Bob Adelman photographic archives including approximately 50, 000 prints and 525, 000 image negatives and slides. In 2007, he published 'Mine Eyes Have Seen: Bearing Witness to the Struggle for Civil Rights. ' This 1970 photo-essay predates by two years the other collaboration between Adelman and Susan Hall listed in his Wikipedia biography -- [Adelman, Bob and Hall, Susan.
