8vo; pp. 122. BEAUTIFUL FIRST UK EDITION OF THIS CHILDREN'S CLASSIC. Stuart Little was E.B. White's first children's book, predating Charlotte's Web (1952) by some seven years. The book was published by Harper & Row in 1945, and then a year later in similar format by Hamish Hamilton, as offered here. The same Garth Williams illustrations are used, notably for the attractive dust-jacket, here in unusually good condition. The book itself is in near-fine condition, noting only an early (1946) gift inscription to the inside front cover (in fact fully obscured by the jacket flap); dust-jacket in very good condition, unclipped, with nicks and creases only to the top and bottom.
