Printed in black Palatino on handmade ivory-colored Shadwell paper sewn into Fabriano paper covers with jacket and acronym of the title:author stamped in blind on the front; "illustrated by an anonymous diagram of the mechnics fo the piano, key and wire, etc." Hamady notes in the bibliography, "This paper was couched on the 'magic felt' which was gratis from a papermill here in Wisconsin. It was loaded with pigment from its last job, so each pressing produced a different color in the sheet, beginning with a hot pink & lighter to an orange & on to Ivory & finally off-white with light tangerine deckles!"
