Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. A little sunning at the spine and extremities, very good lacking the dust jacket. Inscribed by the author to Barrett H. Clark: "For Barrett - My 'first reader' - Ken Nicholson. Ja. 7, 1931. New York City." Clark was an exceptionally important figure in modern American drama, aside from authoring many books, he served as the longtime literary editor for the drama publisher Samuel French. A play about a traveling salesman who finds love in a small Midwestern town. Basis for the 1931 Harry Beaumont film *Laughing Sinners* with Joan Crawford and her then-lover Clark Gable (who was in the midst of becoming a phenomenon and whose part was greatly expanded and reshot after the initial filming was completed). Scarce. An important association. Seller Inventory # 562122
