This classic story of California paisanos living in Monterey is one of Steinbeck's most loved tales, rich in characters and a story that is enchanting and universal. Steinbeck often used myths and themes or biblical stories in his novels. In Tortilla Flat Steinbeck expressed his philosophy of group-man. During the Depression it was difficult for a family to stay together, financially, spiritually, psychologically. Looking backwards, in Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck shows the individuals (the knights) become Danny's house (the round table) and that Danny's house is part of Tortilla Flat and that Tortilla Flat is part of greater Monterey and Monterey part of the greater world. We are open Wednesday thru Sunday 10:00 am to 5 pm; Mondays and Tuesdays are by chance. are returnable for any reason within 7 days of receipt. Washington
state residence will be charged 8.7% state sales tax on their orders.
Domestically, we ship via USPS: $9.50 for the first item, covering postage and insurance up to $100 of value. Add $1.50 insurance per each additional $100 of value &/or each additional item. International shipping must be
individually quoted depending on locale and services available, but is $12 at a
minimum.
We accept all major credit cards as well as personal checks in US funds and ship after the check has cleared our bank. We require the following information:

shipping address).
Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 1 business day. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
