Very good copy in the original cloth-backed and illustrated paper- boards. Spine bands and panel edges slightly edge-nicked and dust-toned as with age. Remains particularly well-preserved overall. Cloth. Condition: Very Good Indeed. David De Bethel (illustrator). A smart second impression of this illustrated cookery book inspired by the Tyrol region of the Alps. Second impression, originally published earlier in the same year. Very scarce work. Illustrated throughout. A collection of recipes originating from the Tyrol Region, a historical region in the Alps of Northern Italy and western Austria, considered by the author as "beyond the imagination of the English cook". With dishes including honey cakes, potatoes in mustard sauce, spiced fruit loaf, dumplings, Viennese cabbage, and many others. Written by David De Bethel, a British diplomat who was a key figure in His Majesty's Diplomatic Service or the British Diplomatic Corps during the Second World War. In the original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor fading to the extremities. Light sunning to the rear board with the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Light age toning to the endpapers with the previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Very Good Indeed. book.
