The boards have some rubbing to the corners and fraying to the edges of the spine where there is some cracking along the edge next to the rear panel. The spine is faded with a half-inch chip out of the surface at the bottom. There is some browning to the page edges. The reverse of the front free endpaper has the bookplate of Anthony Edwards, Life Fellow of Gonville & Caius College and retired Professor of Biometry at the University of Cambridge and was part of his collection of Cambridge books which was a reflection of his keen and active interest in the governance of the Collegiate University. The book was a gift to him and there is a gift message on the front pastedown which also has a presentation plate relating to the book having earlier been gifted to the Library of the Cathedral Church at Worcester. There is a note in ink relating to this presentation from St. Catherines College, Cambridge on the front free endpaper. Browning to the endpapers. Heavy browning to the half-title page which also has some writing in ink at the top. Some scattered spotting to the pages at the back of the book and the book has a few annotations in pencil. The pages are a little browned but are otherwise generally clean and unmarked. No jacket. First printing. Heavy item so there will be an additional postage charge for overseas orders.
