Utamaro: A Chorus of Birds, Concertina, First US Edition (1981). Book in very good condition, in a similar slipcase. The slipcase shows some wear, with a mark to the top left-hand corner of the back panel, where it appears that a sticker has been removed. A very good collectible book for bird lovers. (See pictures). The "Book of Birds" was published about 1790, when the Japanese colored wood-block print was at its finest and the artist Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806) was at the height of his career. 'Utamaro: A Chorus of Birds' features colour reproductions of Utamaro's work.
