Welcome to Mars, James Blish, pub. Faber and Faber, 1967 1st UK ed. 160 pages. Grey cloth. No inscriptions, top edge of text block just a little bit dusty. Jacket very minimal edge wear, a touch of paper abrasion top and bottom of spine, rear panel clean, a couple of not very significant marks. A really nice copy of this juvenile SF novel from Blish featuring the boy wonder scientist Dolph Haertel who discovers an anti gravity device and goes to Mars. The novel combines proper science with fantasy in a manner which must have appealed to a young readership. The jacket was designed by the artist, Margaret Wolpe, wife of Berthold Wolpe, the German typeface and book designer, who emigrated to England before WW2. A VG+ copy of this scarce title. Jacket now in protective Mylar sleeve [removable].
