Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Publishing date is blacked out, but probably 1959. Binding is solid, despite incipient split at pp 8-9. Pages are unmarked and only a little aged. Book previously included paper for use, and prior owner has done has so, and glued most of them onto appropriate pages. Back cover includes diagonal piece to tuck paper into -- and it now includes some instructions and the completed swallow. Cover has a little wear to edges, but otherwise okay. The user's sheets of paper are missing. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is clear. Minor wear marks to boards. Unclipped jacket. First US edition, originally published in Tokyo in 1958, scarce in such excellent condition with all specimens intact. Quarto. Illustrative diagrams in colour throughout. Original textured orange boards, titles and decoration to spine and front board in black, 16 tipped-in origami specimens, several coloured rice-paper samples in pocket to rear pastedown as issued. With dust jacket. Corners lightly bumped, occasional offsetting and indentations from origami specimens to facing leaves.
