First American edition. "With a narrative of the recent events obtained from a Polish patriot nobleman." The frontispiece is a stipple engraving of Kosciusko. Advertisements at the end printed on yellow paper and one portion dated May, 1831. In series: "Harper's family library," as its volumes XXIV (i.e., 24). A Harper's stereotype edition. 12mo. Frontis. 339 pp., [8 (ads)] ff. American imprints 7063. Publisher's tan cloth printed with publishing information on front cover and ads for other volumes in the Harper Family Library series on the back. Covers soiled and with occasional stains. Brown tape at top of spine and on to the boards. Ex-social club library: 19th-century bookplate, call number on endpaper, pressure-stamp on title-page, no other markings. Internally a very good copy.
