Red cloth with gilt frame, coat of arms and lettering to front, gilt lettering to spine. Bevelled boards, badly bumped to corners, rubbed to edges. Backstrip is sunned and starting to come loose with splits along the hinges; damage to the top and the base. Binding weak, separating along the internal guttters with the webbing showing in places. Black endpapers, separated along gutters and frayed to edges. Front endpapers and frontispiece detached but intact. Ownership name and address to recto of frontispiece; this leaf has a large stain to outer edge. Tissue guard. Ownership signature to title page. 578pp., foldout map, b/w illustrations.
