3 volumes, 8vo; original dark olive cloth, upper covers tooled in gilt and black, gilt-lettered spine, blind-tooled back covers, grey glazed endpapers; ex-Minnesota Historical Society with usual markings, light wear to spine heads, else a very good, attractive set. "Ere this date [Burton's] extraordinary power of concentrated application had become impaired by a serious illness, and the book ["A History of the Reign of Queen Anne"], dry without exactness, and desultory without liveliness, hardly deserves to be ranked among histories" (DNB, Vol. III, p. 463).
