Funeral sermon on 2 Chronicles, xxxii, 33. Title-page has a mourning border. John Hyatt began preaching in 1794 and later gave up his business as a cabinet-maker to devote himself exclusively to religious work. "His unauthorised ministration, though acceptable to the multitude, did not meet with the approval of the regular preacher" (DNB). Two volumes of his sermons were published separately, in London, in 1811 and 1828. "Sketches of fifty Sermons of the late J[ohn] H[yatt]" appeared in 1827. 8vo. 31, [1] pp. NSTC 2H39498. Sewn. Lacks wrappers, sewing holes present. Six-digit number stamped on the half-title. Soiling and browning in some margins, and shallow tattering on a few outer edges.
