London: Bell & Daldy, 1863. 222 x 143 mm. Original cloth, uncut, hinges slightly cracked. Lightly browned, but very good. Bookplates. First Edition. Garrison-Morton 5609. Hilton suggested that symptoms are disordered reflexes and advocated complete rest in the treatment of surgical disorders in all parts of the body. He also contributed the concept of pain as a guide to the seat of disease. His book, a surgical classic, continued in print into second half of the 20th century (6th ed. 1950). Norman 1074.
