FIRST US EDITION. [Bound within: "Collections of the Rhode-Island Historical Society; Vol. I" (Providence: Printed by John Miller, 1827)] Aside from 16 pages of preliminary text, this entire volume is a reprint of the original 1643 1st edition (including the title page stating that date and listing "London: Printed by Gregory Dexter") Thus, a First United States printing of this important title. Bound in (later?) half leather and marbled boards with leather title label listing "Roger Williams Key" as title. Hinges are weak and splitting, minor shelf wear to boards, 19th century owner bookplate to front paste-down, else a good overall copy with appropriate age-toning to text block. NOT EX-LIBRARY.
