First edition. Early published work of this Philadelphia playwright and poet. Boker later became the U.S. minister to Turkey, then Russia under President Grant. 12mo. [10 (5 blank)], (11)?190, [2 (blank)] pp. Half library leather and marbled paper sides, both covers pressure-stamped by a now-defunct library, spine gilt-stamped and with paper shelving label. Binding worn: Front cover and signature loosening a bit; top half of spine leather chipped away, exposing underlying binding matter; spine leather rubbed and abraded; cover edges and corners worn; and rear board punctured completely through resulting in a small hole (.5 cm x .5 cm) and some paper loss. Hinges (inside) cracking. Rubber stamps and peforation stamps present. Title-leaf and half-title leaf loosening. Bookseller Inventory # 7496
