Scarce sole edition, printed on wove paper, of Preston's defense of the legitimacy of his having won the Royal Irish Academy's prize for an essay on manufacturing in Ireland. The final five pages giving the text of the table of contents of Preston's essay are not present here, but the defense of himself and the Academy is complete. Uncommon: OCLC, ESTC, and NUC Pre-1956 report only six U.S. holdings. 8vo (21 cm, 8.25"). [2], 23, [1] pp. (pp. 25?29 lacking). ESTC N33835; Goldsmiths'-Kress 17276.12. Recent marbled paper wrappers. Lacking pp. 25?29 (contents table, see above). Title-page with long tear from inner margin partially repaired, lower portion torn away, early inked annotation in upper portion (shaved), and faint rubber-stamp.
