Fine mid 19th century engraved map, lithographed with original hand color. Numerous specific buildings are identified, the earliest railroad lines shown clearly. Mitchell maps of this mid-century era were issued with a range of color as well as variant decorative borders, including this version with delicate grape clusters and vines running between corner scrolls. Nice looking example, paper nicely age mellowed to a pleasing age patina of soft, muted color tones; any age flaws such as spots are easy to overlook or forgive.
