Boston Mass. & Vicinity 1886 Sampson rare large detailed hand colored pocket map

Published 1886, Boston by Sampson, Murdock, & Co. Large folding pocket map with original hand color, within publisher's decorative card stock paper wrappers. Scarce 19th century city plan pocket map. Map is 135 years old and shows some signs of handling and time, but remains nice looking. Covers and map gently age worn, spine of cover taped long ago, remains overall attractive as an object. Map paper is gently toned, small old neat tape repairs on reverse to many fold line intersections, small loss at a couple intersections, numerous long splits along fold lines between panels, still well preserved and attractive looking. Still attractive on the shelf. Map displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.
