Attractively Hand Coloured Mid-Seventeenth Century Map. One Of The Most Important Early Maps Of Devon. Much Less Common Than The Blaeu Map Which Jansson Is Often Accused Of Plagiarizing. Galleons, Fishing Boats And Sea Monsters Patrol The Waters. The Title Is Contained Within A Decorative Cartouche Made Up Of Large And Exotic Fish And Two Maidens. The Two Mileage Scales Are Contained In A Floral Cartouche. An Additional Feature Of Jansson's Maps Is The Elaborate Lettering. For The 1652 Edition Lundy Was Added To The Plate. The paper this map is printed on has a very light grey tint to it. Lovely Hand Colouring. A Wonderful Example Of A Relatively Rare Map. Batten & Bennett, 11. 3.
