Antique coastal survey map; Alexander Dallas Bache, Superintendent of the United States Coast Survey (Published in the 1860 annual report. Publication date 1861). 86.0 x 75.5cm, 33.75 x 29.75 inches; this is a folding map. Condition: Fair: Partial splits & tears, with a small area of paper loss. The map is printed on paper which has become brittle with age, as is usual with US Coast Survey maps of this era. The map is fragile and at risk of tears, splits along the fold and flaking, even with careful handling. There is toning along the folds. By the time you receive the map, its condition may have deteriorated compared to that shown. For an additional charge, we can arrange to have the map laid down onto linen to stabilise it - we recommend this approach if you intend to frame the map. Please contact us if you would like to arrange to view this map. There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is plain.
