The Book Carrel has been in business since 2003 and is owned and operated by Marc Sena Carrel. We are a specialty shop carrying all manner of art books, and scholarly and antiquarian books, as well as antique Japanese ukiyo-e prints. We describe conservatively, we pack carefully, and we ship promptly. We are always interested in buying private libraries, large and small. Independent from our book-buying interests, we also offer a professional appraisal service regarding fine and rare books in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please telephone us or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns. We will be happy to be of service. Thank you.
A catalogue raisonné is a comprehensive, annotated listing of all the known artworks by an artist either in a particular medium or all media. The works are described in such a way that they may be reliably identified by third parties. Our catalogues raisonnés are, in the main, about artists from East Asia, Europe, and North America.

We wrap and package very carefully and we ship promptly, usually within 1 business day of a paid order. USPS Media Mail includes a tracking number, as does Priority Mail. International rates to be determined at time of sale depending on weight and destination; we will contact you regarding shipping costs. We regret the recent substantial and unfriendly increase in rates by USPS for international parcels. Generally speaking, our default shipping fees are set somewhat conservatively. We never seek to make a profit from shipping fees. Delivery is guaranteed for all books and prints, and expensive items are insured as a matter of course without extra charge. Payment by U.S. check, cash, USPS or international money order, wire transfer, credit card and PayPal. Courtesy discount to colleagues and libraries or institutions, which may be invoiced. Sorry, California residents (non-dealers) will be charged appropriate sales tax.
