James S. Seymour (1791?1875) worked as a clerk in a Hartford bank, then moved to Auburn, N. Y., in 1817, later becoming the president of the Bank of Auburn, a position he held for 58 years. Seymour was also an active philanthropist, founding the Seymour Library and Auburn City Hospital. 8vo. 35, [1 (blank)] pp. Original wrappers, lightly soiled, chipped over spine and at fore-edge. Front wrapper with a couple of crayon marks and ink notations at top. Title-page with crayon mark, page five with a very faint rubber-stamp. Very light creases in some lower margins. Good +.
