London, 1826, Sedez 7,5 x 11 cm. With cancellation hole by pliers in the middle. CURIOSITY: TICKET TO HIS LAST CONCERT Weber was plagued by money worries and already seriously ill from Touberkolose. Against medical advice, he had traveled in February 1826 from Dresden via Frankfurt, Lorraine, Metz, Verdun to Paris to recover a few days for the onward journey via Calais to London. The goal was to complete his last opera "Oberon" for the premiere in London. Despite severe ill health, Weber remained active and attended and conducted several concerts, the first on March 8. In April, Weger even stood at the podium and conducted for several days in a row his new opera "Oberon". During these days, two things were important to the seriously ill composer: "with his own concert, which is to take place on May 26 . to earn as much money as possible and, at the same time, to prepare the journey home . Carl Maria had understood that while there was a lot of money to be made in London, life was also extremely expensive ." Then, on May 26, the benefit concert in his favor took place at the Argyll Rooms, his last concert: "Through the concert Weber had really to suffer. He conducted, in addition to the cantata "The Festival of Peace", two overtures, and in addition to the new piano song, there were arias, that of Max and "Athalia", Fürstenau played his own Oberon variations. Artistically, the success was as enormous as it was financially disappointing, because the concert was poorly attended, for which there were many reasons: the bad weather, the traditional race for thoroughbred mares at Epsom, the simultaneous concert of the popular tenor Pierre-Ignace Begrez - and, as Max Maria later speculated, disgruntlement on the part of the aristocracy and the influential ladies of the Philharmonic Society, whom Weber had allegedly not courted enough." (Schwandt, Christoph: C.M. von Weber in seiner Zeit, p. 533ff.) 4 days later, Weber still appeared at a benefit concert in favor of Mary Anne Paton, where Fürstenau had to stand by him, because he was again much worse. In the night from June 4 to 5, Weber died. KURIOSUM: EINTRITTSKARTE ZU SEINEM LETZTEN KONZERT Weber war geplagt von Geldsorgen und bereits schwer von Touberkolose erkrankt. Entgegen ärztlichen Rates war er im Februar 1826 von Dresden über Frankfurt, Lothringen, Metz, Verdun nach Paris gereist, um sich dort ein paar Tage für die Weiterreise über Calais nach London zu erholen. Ziel war es in London seine letzte Oper "Oberon" für die Uraufführung fertigzustellen. Trotz heftiger Krankheitsbeschwerden blieb Weber aktiv und besuchte und dirigierte mehrere Konzerte, das erste am 8. März. Im April stand Weger sogar mehrere Tage hintereinander am Pult und dirigierte. Dem schwer kranken Komponisten war in diesen Tagen war zweierlei wichtig: "Mit dem eigenen Konzert, das am 26. Mai sein soll . möglichst viel Geld zu verdienen und daneben die Heimreise vorzubereiten. Carl Maria hatte begriffen, dass in London zwar viel Geld zu verdienen, das Leben aber auch extrem teuer war ." Am 26. Mai fand dann das Benefizkonzert zu seinen Gunsten in den Argyll Rooms statt, sein letztes Konzert: "Durch das Konzert musste Weber sich quälen. Es dirigierte außer der Friedenskantate "The Festival of Peace" zwei Ouvertüren, und neben dem neuen Klavierlied gab es noch Arien, die des Max und "Athalia", Fürstenau spielte eigene Oberon Variationen. Künstlerisch war der Erfolg so enorm, wie er finanziell enttäuschte, weil das Konzert schlecht besucht war, wofür es viele Gründe gab: Das schlechte Wetter, das traditionelle Rennen für Vollblutstuten in Epsom, das gleichzeitige Konzert des beliebten Tenors Pierre-Ignace Begrez - und, wie Max Maria später mutmaßte, Verstimmungen seitens der Aristokratie und der einflussreichen Damen der Philharmonic Society, die Weber angeblich nicht genug hofiert hatte."
