Written on "House of Representatives" letter heading Washington, DC, dated Feb 6th, 1877 from NY Congressman Andrew Williams, to a Harry Wood, whom I believe was manager of one of his iron mining interests in NY state. Andrew Williams (August 27, 1828 October 6, 1907) was an American politician, manufacturer, merchant and miner from the State of New York. He was a Republican who was elected to the 44th and 45th Congresses holding office from March 4, 1875, to March 3, 1879. The bulk of the letter gives insight into the running of the mine, business competition, the market etc. Clayburgh however there are some paragraphs concerning the resolution of the Rutherford Hayes disputed election of 1876/1877. ".no-one can tell the result yet.
