Black and white press photo (7" x 5') with a picture of Paul Keres and Nona Gaprindashvili sitting thoughtfully at the table, points to a figure with her right hand. The Estonian - Soviet grand master Keres standing next to her leans his hand on the table and watches what is going on. This took place during the 1964/1965 Hastings chess tournament. Gaprindashvili scored 5/9 to place fifth, beating all of the British masters in the tournament. Paul Keres captured first. Paul Keres (1916-1975) was an Estonian chess grandmaster and chess writer. He was among the world's top players from the mid-1930s to the mid-1960s. Keres narrowly missed a chance at a world championship match on five occasions. Nona Gaprindashvili (1941- ) is a Georgian chess player and the first woman to be awarded the FIDE title Grandmaster. She was the sixth women's world chess champion. Condition: The photo is slightly faded, has slight signs of wear and marginal wear. On the back with the agency's stamp and mounted explanatory text in Czech. C: File. Seller Inventory # C2297
