Trascurabili segni del tempo alla sovraccoperta, lievi arrossature dovute alla qualità della carta del tempo. Esemplare nel complesso ben conservato. Prima edizione di questo celebre scritto del famoso autore nato a San Pellegrino nel bellunese nel 1906. Come la definì lo stesso Buzzati questa sua opera è "né racconto né favola ma confessione" e con un tono narrativo fiabesco affronta temi e sentimenti quali l'angoscia, la paura della morte, la magia e il mistero, la ricerca dell'assoluto e del trascendente, la disperata attesa di un'occasione di riscatto da un'esistenza mediocre.
