This publication from the extensive series, Victoria & Albert Museum Catalogues. 11 x 9 inches. Bound in navy blue buckram hardboards, with crisp silver-stamped lettering to the front board and to the spine. Unbumped spine head and tail, and with sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. With 445 numbered pages, all of heavy coated stock. With color frontispiece and approximately 200 B&W photo illustrations, many full-page, and almost all personally taken by the author in his wide-ranging travels. An immensely clean interior. Almost certainly unread. The attractive full-pictorial dust jacket is unclipped; DJ with trivial rubbing and with traces of wear at the edges and corners. A Fine copy in a Very Good DJ. 4 lbs. 14 oz. This was the first outline of Islamic Iranian metalwork to be published in any language. It is based on the collection in the Victoria & Albert Museum and is the work of Dr. Assadullah Souren Melikian-Chirvani [b. 1936], the distinguished authority of Near Eastern metalwork. The many illustrations present relevant details of epigraphy and iconography, the great majority of which have not been previously published.
