The Authors:
Richard Lewis and James Luciana created together one of the first digital media degrees in the country at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Richard Lewis is Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Marist College and was previously Dean of Academic Programs. Trained as a traditional painter, today he is a practicing digital painter who has exhibited throughout the United States. He is also the author of The Power of Art (Harcourt Brace, 1995). This art appreciation textbook has been used in over 200 colleges and universities.
James Luciana is an Associate Professor of Art at Marist College and a past Chair of the Department of Art and Art History. He is an accomplished photographer in both traditional and digital techniques. His work has been extensively exhibited both in the United States and abroad. In addition to his teaching at Marist College, he has been an instructor of 19th century non-silver printing techniques and digital media at the International Center of Photography in New York City. He is also the author of The Art of Enhanced Photography (Rockport, 1999) and Black and White Photography: Manifest Visions (Rockport, 2000).
