For this, and for his steadfast devotion to his principles, this towering figure was imprisoned for a total of twenty seven years, first by the British and later by the Pakistani government. This is a perceptive biography that offers fresh insights into the life and achievements of an extraordinary man, drawing close parallels with the life of Mahatma Gandhi, his 'brother in spirit'.

About the Author:

Rajmohan Gandhi is a historian, journalist and the author of over a dozen books, including Mohandas: A True Story of a Man, His People and an Empire and Rajaji: A Life. He had led the Indian delegation to the UN Human Rights Commission in 1990. Until end-December 2012, he taught political science and history at the University of Illinois. Since then he has had spells as a scholar-inresidence at IIT, Gandhinagar.
