From the Back Cover:
A NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST IS JUST A BUTTON AWAY...AND SOMEONE'S ABOUT TO PUSH IT.

THE SECRET...The ultimate weapon, a sleek silver missile that carries no warhead, just a doomsday system that will launch every nuclear device in the U.S. arsenal. No overrides. No countercommands. No stopping it.

THE TERRORISTS...Desperate men driven over the brink by a government they feel betrayed them, they have taken over the Final Gambit computer, stated their demands, and are ready to push the button that will kill us all.

THE WHITE HOUSE....Stumped, scared, and running out of time, America's top military advisors suggest blasting the terrorists to kingdom come...even though their bomb will level the entire state of Louisiana.

THE LAST, BEST HOPE...Their names--Thorpe and Parker. He's a Special Forces covert agent with a marriage on the rocks and first-hand knowledge of the terrorist leader. She's a beautiful missile specialist, tough as any solider, trained to do or die, and willing to race the clock to stop Final Gambit before zero hour.

From Publishers Weekly:
Green Beret instructor Dalton resurrects the threat of nuclear annihilation in this disjointed military thriller. The Omega Missile is the code name of an operation to launch every nuclear weapon in the U.S. arsenal, and it's targeted by Chief Petty Officer McKenzie (only civilians get first names in Dalton's world), a ticked-off ex-Navy SEAL aiming to take over the system. Charged with saving the world from nuclear holocaust is Captain Thorpe, a Green Beret who's previously worked with McKenzie on joint assignments. Thrown into the mix are an egotistical national security adviser, a no-nonsense chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a pretty Air Force major and Omega Missile expert. A plodding beginning gives way to a tense middle and ending, although novice military fiction readers will want to cut their teeth on something a bit easier to follow.
