He has heard about the dreaded gruel and tyrannical lunchroom staff from his older brother. Rising above his fears, Clyde does fine in the lunchroom and even has the opportunity to share his strength with a classmate, Rosemary, who slips in a puddle of juice and goes flying. (Ages 4 to 8)

Kathryn Lasky is the award-winning author of a wide varity of books for children, including the widely praised The Librarian Who Measured the Earth, and ALA Notable Book. Lunch Bunnies was inspired by her daughter's trepidation over staying at shcool for lunch-and by her own memories of being a first grader and living in dread of "soup days." Ms. Lasky lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with her husband and their children, Max and Meribah. Marylin Hafner grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she collected many memories of anxious experiences with school lunch and where, like Clyde in Lunch Bunnies,Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, Brothers, by Mary Ann Hoberman, a Reading Rainbow book, and Hanukkah!, by Roni Schotter, winner of the 1991 National Jewish Picture Book Award.
