In this issue the Guest Editors provide a contemporary look at the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, treatment and outcomes for neonatal-perinatal infections. Finally, the rationale for the most recent changes to guidelines for initiating therapy for early-onset neonatal sepsis are reviewed.
