Sponsored guidebooks usually slant their material to the advantage of their sponsors and advertisers; this series, remarkably, does not. These books are essentially lodging and restaurant guides with their information taken from a national computerized travel data service. Included are approximate prices and a star rating system to denote outstanding quality. A full price range is included, ranging from luxury to budget. There are capsule descriptions of the cities which list, among other facts, major sights, weather summaries, and much needed notes on airport transportation. This is a series devoted to larger cities (including some not served by American Airlines) so it is of lesser utility to those seeking information on rural and wilderness areas--except for getting to the nearest large airport near them. In format and content these guides are much like the highly respected "Mobil Travel Guides" published by Prentice Hall. Objective and straightforward, and most reasonably priced, this series should be welcomed by all libraries serving travelers.
