About the Author:
About the editors

JOHN R. WHITE, MAI, CRE, held an AB degree from Harvard and an MBAin marketing and real estate from New York University. He was thelong-term president, chairman and chief executive officer ofLandauer Associates, Inc., New York, an international real estateconsulting firm. He acted as a consulting intermediary in thepurchase or sale of the former Pan Am Building in New York,L'Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C., and the Bank of the Southwestin Houston, and he arranged $500 million in financing for theGeneral Motors Building in New York. John White was a board memberof 10 real estate, banking, insurance, and development companiesand received a dozen awards from civic and trade associations forhis contributions to real estate. He was the author of over 100published articles on real estate finance, investment, andvaluation, and wrote or contributed to four books. He was Editor inChief and contributing author of The Office Building: From Conceptto Investment Reality. He died on March 29, 1995, shortly aftercompletion of his work on this book.

KEVIN D. GRAY, CRE, is Senior Vice President of Landauer Associatesin New York, with 17 years of experience in investment consulting,retail planning, and architecture. He specializes in strategyconsulting and research for foreign and domestic pension funds,institutions, investment banks, and developers. Kevin Gray holds anMA in finance from the Yale School of Management, and BA and MAdegrees in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He isa registered architect in Connecticut and a certified appraiser innumerous states. He is the author of several articles on realestate topics.
